We’re trying to update our About Us page, so here is our first one from May 2009 that will be archived. =)
I’m a rare breed as I’m a San Francisco native, born and raised, since 1979. I only have one older brother. My education was interesting in that I went to a predominantly Caucasian elementary school, predominantly African-American middle school, predominantly Asian high school, and a mix in college/university. I learned to be quite tolerant of things, which can be a double-edged sword. I had a vague interest in financial planning which led to studying business which consequently, led to my career in Financial Planning & Analysis. People mostly know me for my musical ability though. I was lucky to have an Aunt who taught piano and I took lessons for 11 or so years (thank you for your patience with me!). Throughout elementary school, I was involved in the San Francisco Boys Chorus doing various performances with the San Francisco Opera and on tour around the world. Choir stayed with me throughout middle school and high school. I eventually went on to conduct my high school choir. After graduating high school, I decided to pick up guitar. My peers at church were learning, so I joined. Over a couple months in the summer of 1997, I learned to play the guitar myself (somewhat of an easy transition from the piano) and started leading worship at church. I’ve been leading ever since.
I was born in San Francisco in 1980. I have an older sister, a younger sister, and a younger brother. In 1986, my parents up and moved us across the bridge to the San Leandro in the East Bay to open up a small restaurant called China Kitchen. Since then I have made 4 more moves before settling in Castro Valley. My “career” has consisted of these roles: Business Administration graduate, tutor, substitute teacher, Child Development student, Pre-K teacher, and now, stay-at-home mom. Volunteering and serving has had a major part in shaping me into who I am. I’ve done volunteering with the homeless, in women’s shelter, food bank, and working with the whole range from babies to collegiates, and even in a nursing home. I have an unhealthy addiction to stickers and stationery. I’m a total bookworm, and am always up for board games. I love my family and friends.
I was born in San Francisco in 2007, and only lived there for 13 months of my life. I am a big sister to Emily. I love to read, sing, and dance. My favorite outing is going to the park. I love to climb the structure and go down the slide. My favorite foods are plain pasta, breads, and fruits, especially berries….oh, and we found out that I really like tomatoes too. Good thing Gung-Gung planted more in our garden this year. I cannot live without milk. Ever since summertime, I have been so excited about taking part in VBS next year.
I was born in Castro Valley in 2009 not too long ago. Sleeping is my favorite hobby. Drinking milk and peeing/pooping are my others. My older sister, Melody, named me. I don’t look too much like Big Sis anymore because I have a little fro/mohawk going on. I am learning to lift my head, roll over, and sit up.
About this Blog
Our main purpose for this blog is to keep family and friends who live afar updated on our lives. Joyce has stopped blogging on her personal blog, so from time to time there will also be links to giveaways (because we all love free stuff) and posts about home organization because of her participation in the Home Sanctuary community. And more infrequently are random ramblings entries.
