This is Day 3 of our 31 Days in SF Bay series. To read all the posts in order, start with this post, then visit the Landing Page to see the outline for the whole series.
Next we will share about some place in San Leandro, where Joyce grew up.
San Leandro Farmers’ Market
There are 2 farmers’ markets in San Leandro that are open weekly throughout the year. There is one downtown, but we usually go to the one at Bayfair Center on Saturdays. Whenever you drive up to the market, you can smell yummy food. You can see a few photos HERE and HERE.
Halcyon Park
Halcyon Park is a great place for kids to ride their bikes around the path, or to take a walk, if you want. There is an enclosed play area for younger ones, with a car table, and another play area for older kids. There is a field inside the bike/walking path where kids can play soccer.
Marina Park
I think there are 2 play structures at Marina Park, but we usually go to the one for younger kids. There are lots of walking/running/biking paths. You can watch the airplanes take off or land, or watch the boats and kayaks. In more recent years, there have been geese around. There is a volleyball sand pit. During Easter, there is the annual egg hunt. You can see a few photos HERE.
Washington Manor Park & Pool
This is our usual spot if we end up at the Manor branch library storytime on Thursdays. This the area for smaller kids, and there is a structure for older ones as well. There is also a basketball court. It is great to ride a bike along the path or push a stroller. We took swim lessons at the pool back in the day before it is how it looks now. No pics, but you can probably do a Google search to find it. There are also tennis courts. After the park, we usually head to the Chinese Bakery for some yummy pastries. You can see more pics from 2009, 2010, and 2012.
San Leandro Main Library
There are so many great program at the San Leandro Main Library. I can go on and on, but we certainly enjoy the Summer Reading Program the most! You can see some photos from playing with blocks HERE, Warriors reading night HERE, and summer reading program 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Creekside Kids’ Theater
Melody has been involved with Creekside Kids’ Theater since last summer. She was a bee in the first production she was in, Winnie the Pooh Kids. Earlier this year, she was in Schoolhouse Rock Live! And next year, both of the girls will be performing in A Year with Frog and Toad. Melody is Mouse and Emily is the bird chorus. You can see more photos of Winnie the Pooh Kids HERE.
