An update on Joyce’s cell phone:
We went to the new (but small) Verizon store at Castro Village last week and upgraded Joyce to the LG Dare with the New Every Two discount. Even though most of you recommended the Blackberry Pearl, apparently, they are discontinuing the Pearl and didn’t even have any at the store. The store’s phonebook transfer machine hasn’t arrived yet either, so we went to the big Verizon store next to the Walmart and Costco on Davis Street in San Leandro to transfer Joyce’s contacts.
The Dare is pretty cool in that it is touchscreen everything. However, touch needs to be precise. This phone would be bad for people with big hands/fingers. We’ll need to eventually sync up the phone to the Bluetooth in the RDX when Joyce drives.
So the battery on Joyce’s cell phone is dying. She has to charge it every night now when she didn’t have to as often before. Verizon gives us credit towards a new phone with their “New Every Two” option and Joyce’s is coming up at the end of this month. If she upgrades….which phone should she get? She likes a candy-bar style phone (no slide or flip) and the size of her current phone. Plus, it should have Bluetooth to sync with our RDX’s hands-free link. Optionally, it should be able to withstand being dropped by Melody or the new baby on an occasional basis =p

…so which phone should she get?
Okay, so that’s belated, but that’s how we roll around here.
Norm has another 5-day weekend, so Melody will be so sad when she wakes up to find him gone on Monday morning. And Norm will be sad to walk in the cold to the BART station. But… he’s only working 4 days this week because I have my 2nd ultrasound on Friday!! This is the one where we find out if it’s a boy or a girl. It was supposed to be earlier, but because of the holidays, the schedule for the ultrasound place was backed up.
I had an appointment today. It was just the usual monthly checkup. I got to hear the heartbeat again, so that was great. And I’m at Week 20 which means we’re halfway there. It’s going by really fast. We know a few people who recently had babies (congrats!), and a lot more who will have babies a little before us or around the same time. It should be exciting.
Norm took the RDX in for servicing this afternoon too. I can’t believe it’s almost 2 years old. Norm got to drive it for a year to work when we first bought it, and now that he takes public transportation and we’re out in Castro Valley, I’ve been driving it for almost a year. So it doesn’t seem like we’ve had it that long.
We decided to make potatoes au gratin for dinner because we haven’t had it for awhile, along with rice pilaf, Chinese sausage and ham. My dad bought this rice for us and it’s hard when you cook it, and so far the best that I’ve tasted is when we make fried rice or rice pilaf. And the sausage and ham was just because it’s what we have in the fridge.
Well, we’ll post “Our Week in Photos” tomorrow, so stay tuned.
