As soon as we got our most recent crate, Emily wanted to open it and get started on it right away! I guess I didn’t have a choice since she went and got it opened herself. :p

Supplies for My Polar Window Clings – I received an email saying some people write in about the 3D paint getting clogged, but I had the exact opposite with the first one I opened, and now we have a blue reminder of our fun crafting time. :p
???????????????????????????????

After the staining accident, I wanted to make sure that this worked before making more, so we only got around to making one snowflake. I forgot to get pics during the making of the window cling, but this is how it looks after drying on the plastic sheet.
???????????????????????????????

And here is how it looks when I take it off. I should have added more paint to make it thicker, and waited a little longer for it to dry completely (as you can see some of the white glue still there. But it does stick to the window!! We can’t wait to make more. 🙂

Supplies for My Snowball Toss – This was super duper fun to make and play with.
???????????????????????????????

First was lacing the two felt pieces together.

Melody decided to come in to do it too.

And then, adding the pieces for the paws, claws, and ears.

For the Holidays: The Sparkle Box

DSC_0695bWe’ll be featuring some of our favorite things if you need Christmas gifts/activities ideas.

sparkleThe Sparkle Box – We received The Sparkle Box last year to review. You can read our review of The Sparkle Box HERE. I have grown up volunteering as a part of Jr. Optimist Club and K.E.Y. Club, and lots of other places, so lending a helping hand during the holidays definitely has a place in my heart. I would love for my girls to understand that even though the “things” of life are fun, it can also be fun to give! At the beginning of November, we brought out our book, and re-constructed our own Sparkle Box so that we can fill it with gifts for Jesus this holiday season. (You can’t tell from the photo, but the box is glittery and sparkly.) 🙂

What are some of your favorite things? Any recommendations for great Christmas gifts?

For the Holidays: Kiwi Crates

(Disclaimer: Affiliate links are in this post. We personally own and love the things we recommend. We are in this season where we are trying to live more simply, so we know that if you are in the same boat, it is sometimes hard justifying buying anything else! Norm and I have many wonderful memories from our childhood, and with our family now, that don’t involve “things” and “stuff,” because we just enjoy being together. But gifts seem to just happen during the holiday season (and birthdays too), so we want to share some things that we like having in our lives. Any purchases made using the links will give us a percentage to use toward gifts for our sponsored children Solissa and Lucnise. Thank you!)

Kiwi Crate – We love Kiwi Crates! We love to use them for rainy days, and not so rainy days crafts. We use them as birthday gifts. We use them for playdates. We also use them for learning. They have a Black Friday Weekend Deal – 60% off your 1st month Friday, 50% off Saturday, 40% off Sunday, and 30% off Monday. Use the code JOLLY. Single crates are also available. Even if you don’t order anything, check out their website because there are many fun and simple crafts in the DIY Ideas page.

Here is the fun Modern Art crate that we did a few months ago.

We haven’t shared much about Kiwi Crate lately because we haven’t been doing them. *gasp* I know! But here’s the reason. Honestly, we are involved with many activities already, so it’s not realistic to do crafts in Sunday School, crafts in homeschool group, crafts at kids’ club, etc, and not have a cluttered home. BUT here is what we are doing! We are saving up the monthly boxes for play dates. Actually, on Friday we had a friend over to work on some projects and experiment. Another thing we did was give out a box as a birthday gift.

I am super excited about this month’s Kiwi Crate though!! The theme is Modern Art. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I have been trying to be a “yes mom” more often, and doing art stuff is one of the ways of doing that. The girls are loving it and I love seeing their creative side.

Kiwi Crate: What is it?My Rhythm Bells | My Xylophone | Antarctic Adventures | Family Game Night | Pop-Up Shop Launch Party | Playful Pets

You’ve heard me talk about Kiwi Crate before, and you’ll continue to hear me talk about it because we love them! For busy moms, this is the perfect solution in finding little projects to work on with your little ones (ages 3-7). Each Kiwi Crate comes with 2-3 projects, and booklets with more ways to explore on the theme of the crate. You can go online for even more activities related to the theme for the month. You can choose to receive a monthly subscription (which can be paused at any time), or you can purchase individual crates.

My silly girl the morning after we got a crate in the mail.
She was excited to get started on it!

I would love to introduce 5 friends to Kiwi Crate for free! Leave a comment below and I will pick 5 names to receive a free crate by Tuesday, May 28th at 8:57pm. 🙂

If you aren’t chosen to receive a free crate, you can order your first crate for only $10 with THIS LINK.

We are loving the Kiwi Crates! During this busy season of life, the convenience of the crates has been a blessing to us. We had friends over one day, and the girls all wanted to see what were in the Kiwi Crates! We had 2 crates full of fun projects for 4 girls ages 3-8. One was the February crate – Playful Pets. The other crate was Colorful Inspiration, which was the single crate that I won from the Pop-Up Shop Launch Party. There were enough materials for each girl to do 2 projects.

Playful Pets

Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine coming from outside (the girls and dads had gone biking/scootering before starting the projects)

And of course, the Pet Playground 🙂

Kiwi Crate: Pop-Up Shop Launch Party

Our trip to Mountain View to Kiwi Crate‘s Pop-Up Shop Launch Party was a super random trip, but it is Melody’s birthday month so we decided to go on an adventure. We had meant to go with some friends, but Emily’s nap was longer than I expected. So we headed out on our own, and had a fab time.

Here we are after getting through a bit of rush hour traffic.

Walking in

Started off with a craft

Pirate hat-making is serious business

I think this is normally their kid testers room.

Completed pirate hats

Photo booth with props, of course!

While the girls went to grab some snacks, they asked if anyone wanted to go pack crates. The girls got to go in the back to pack some crates!

Packing their first crates…one was going to an Emily in Illinois 🙂

And…they got to pack a second crate. They’re almost pro!

When we were leaving, the girls each got to take home a mini-crate which was filled with some kiwi bird sillybandz, fruit snacks, and a t-shirt.

As I was waiting for them to pick their boxes, I also filled out the raffle, and guess what? I won! Woot!

Here’s a sneak peek at this month’s crate! We can’t wait!

So, you must have already noticed a trend in our Kiwi Crate posts. We always put together our projects in the evening after dinner. And I guess the rule around here is that you need to be in PJs in order to do the projects. :p Sorry for ugly lighting in the photos. It pretty much looks like that at our house after dark. Any house lighting experts out there who can help us out? 😉

Kiwi Crate #3 = Family Game Night (We LOVE games!!!)

All the materials you need to create 2 projects.

Project #1 = My Board Game – This one was very involved, so we worked on this last. Norm and Emily worked on separating the game cards, and Melody and I worked on putting together the board.

Coloring the board

Adding color to the wood block aka dice.

Still coloring the board…

All done! And we played a few games. 🙂

Project #2 = My Comet Toss – Norm and Melody worked on this one.

Sample Project = My Pop-Up Card for Valentine’s Day

Emily totally loved making this one for her friend. She did it all by herself! 🙂

Finished Product – Ta-da!

With the busy-ness of the holidays, we still have a few more activities to finish up from the Antarctic Adventures crate. Besides the 2 activities that you get in the crate, there are lots of additional theme-related activities that they suggest for you to do.

Doesn’t this look fun!? I can’t wait to play this game with the girls. The theme for January is Family Game Night. So fun!

Working on the penguins

Ta-da! All done and ready to go!

I think we need to work on our bowling form. hehe
