The Sound of Music LIVE!

I’m not sure what you are doing tomorrow, but I’m going to be watching The Sound of Music LIVE! The girls have watched the original movie on DVD since they were probably 2 years old, minus the scary ending part where they are trying to leave. They love it, and we watch it every year around Christmas time. We have the soundtrack, and there might be sporadic singing in operatic voices of these songs in our house from time to time. I won’t say who sings it loudest and proudest, but I will say it was someone who was in the San Francisco Boys Chorus and toured Europe…twice, as a youth. 😉

Carrie Underwood will be starring as Maria in this live performance, along with Stephen Moyer who plays Captain von Trapp. If you don’t know the story already, it is about Maria, who comes to watch over the seven von Trapp children during the time of Nazi-occupied Austria. This is quite the love story. It is also interesting to read about what happens to the von Trapps after what is shown in the movie. From executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (“Smash,” “Hairspray,” “Chicago”) comes an instant holiday classic: “The Sound of Music,” based on the original Broadway musical.

It is broadcasted LIVE so anything can happen. :p (8/7c…tape delay for us PST folks, so 8pm as well)

Tune into NBC tomorrow 12/5, 8:00pmPST for The Sound of Music LIVE!

Our favorite The Sound of Music songs:
Norm: Edelweiss and The Lonely Goatherd and all the other songs! :p
Joyce: My Favorite Things
Melody: Sixteen Going on Seventeen
Emily: Do-Re-Mi

What is your favorite song from the movie?

  1. Carina and Amanda’s school had their Festival of Christmas on Thurs night so Robert and the other families had to videotape the NBC broadcasting of “The Sound of Music”. Carina is going out for the auditions for the school’s spring musical of “The Sound of Music” on December 16. She needs to sing 16 bars of a song and do a one-minute monologue. For the pops concert last year, the junior high choristers sang “So Long, Farewell, I Bid You Goodnight”.
