The theme this year was Reading is So Delicious, featuring healthy eating. It ran from June 11 to August 11.
Coloring in the pieces of fruits/veggies.
Melody spinning the wheel and stamping her game board.
Emily spinning the wheel and stamping my game board since she doesn’t get to spin for hers. :p
I can’t remember which was the first prizes and which were the grand prizes, but here is what the girls got for finishing the program: Lawrence Hall of Science passes, Chabot Space and Science passes, MOCHA passes, small book totes, In-n-Out bookmarks, wristband, Legoland passes, one book each and one entry each for a drawing for $50(?) at the end of the program.
I also did the CV library summer reading program this year. For the first prize I got a book tote. For the grand prize, I got a book (ha! and of course I end up choosing a young adult fiction…about a runner…the others didn’t interest me so much) and an entry for a drawing of a Kindle Fire.
6 Simple Steps for Kids and Adults:
Step 1. Color in a piece of fruit/veggie for every 30 minutes of reading.
Step 2. Bring your game board to the library.
Step 3. For every piece of colored fruit/veggie, you get one spin.
Step 4. Get 1 or 2 stamps on the game board for each spin.
Step 5. Once you reach halfway, you can claim a First Prize.
Step 6. When you reach the end, you can claim the Grand Prize.
4 Simple Steps for PreReaders:
Step 1. Color in a piece of fruit/veggie for each activity completed.
Step 2. Bring your game board to the library.
Step 3. Once you reach halfway, you can claim a First Prize.
Step 4. When you reach the end, you can claim the Grand Prize.
If you didn’t sign up this year, make sure to do it next year!! 🙂
