Another 4 weeks have passed and I’m sure all of you are sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation to hear how I’m doing with the Romans 8 Scripture memorization?
Well, before I do that, I wanted to share a resource with you. (You can see the others that I posted about in the LIFE IN THE SPIRIT post. Lots of great stuff out there.) Katie shared in our Facebook group that she uses Memverse. Check it out!
Week 5: 12/4-12/10 v.10-11 – Oh boy, this was a tough week. I guess preparing for the holidays (even though ours was pretty low-key) was too much for my brain. I had to break this passage down into phrases to memorize.
Week 6: 12/11-12/17 v.12-13 – I think the girls thought I was a little odd this week. I was reciting these verses like I was talking to them. But hey, it worked!
Week 7: 12/18-12/24 v.14-15 – Verse 14 is still not clicking with me, but v.15 is good.
Week 8: 12/25-12/31 v.16-17 – These new verses are still not rolling off my tongue, but I am getting the hang of the older ones now. I pretty much review 2 old verses every day using ScriptureTyper. It sends me a reminder when I need to review.
I can’t tell you that I can recite all 17 verses by heart without taking a peek, but I can definitely do it using the first letter method. I’m even amazed that I’ve gotten this far. There is a 2-week “life” cushion for us, so I think if I can keep up, I will use that to really get these words into my heart. Only 22 more verses to go!
I love the Four Tips for Scripture Memory that Katie shared the other day. I will try to speak it and write it more in the upcoming weeks.
- Start date: Sunday, November 6th
- Finish date: Saturday, March 31st
- Pace of 2-3 verses a week, with a 2-week “life happens” buffer.
