DIY: Herb and Spice Magnets

So there’s something that’s been bothering me for awhile. We have some herb and spice jars. They are on the skinny counter on the left side of the stove. They take up some space on the counter. I don’t really use the counter space that often, but it just bothers me. =p So I was trying to think of what I could do to fix the problem. (I actually didn’t search for this online before thinking it up by myself, but there are some clever spice magnets in the blogosphere (as well as makeup magnets board). Here’s what I came up with…

Bad photo, but here’s how much space they take up. Not much, but enough to annoy me. =p

I had these business-card size magnets from another project, so we used those. I wouldn’t recommend this if your spices came in glass jars, but mine are cheapo plastic ones.

I cut 3 magnets into 3 strips (I only have these 8 herbs/spices) and stuck them on the backs of the jars.

And voila! Now I have a little more counter space. After this photo was taken, I actually put them into 4 rows of 2s closer to the back so that they don’t get in my way even more. =p

  1. That is so cute! Mine are in glass jars but putting them up on my refrigerator would be great. It would be closer to the stove. Great idea!

Came over from Company Girls…with a killer sinus headache. But your website helped me to smile. Have a good day.
