Romans 8: Am I Totally Crazy?

Crazy
So do you remember the last time I went all crazy and decided to memorize Psalm 143? It was 12 verses and I think the last time I memorized anything remotely like that (prior to the challenge) was in college. Well, I did it…surprising myself. And I was so proud of my girl Melody who memorized 6 verses (I think that last link has a video of her reciting 4 or 6 of the verses).

Crazier
And guess what? I think I’m really crazy this time. Katie from Do Not Depart has a challenge to memorize Romans 8! That’s more than double…actually triple the number of verses. It has 39 verses. I love the book of Romans. Love Romans 8. Lots of great stuff in there if you haven’t gotten into it.

Challenge

  • Start date: Sunday, November 6th
  • Finish date: Saturday, March 31st
  • Pace of 2-3 verses a week, with a 2-week “life happens” buffer.

If you are up to doing this challenge with me and about 50-60 others, there are a lot of resources available at Do Not Depart to help us out along the way. Or even if you want to memorize some of it. Get the kids involved and have them memorized a verse or two too!

Okay, so am I totally crazy or what? You don’t have to answer that. Anyone want to join me in the craziness for the next 5 months? Let’s do it!

Romans 8:37-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
