Head over to our review blog to read more about Ashley Pichea’s new eBook 51 Frugal Father-Daughter Dates. Lots of great ideas for how fathers can spend time with their little girls.
It’s June already?! Where does the time go? We have a wedding celebration today, but I will recap our trip and that on another day. I wanted to pop in here really quickly to give a shout out to my girls’ Daddy. He is quite a guy if I don’t say so myself. I should say it more often because he is a neat guy. I love that he spends time with the girls. The girls are flowergirls (again!) today for the wedding, and I am already teary-eyed thinking about the day their Daddy will walk them down the aisle when they married.
Here’s a few photos I found of Norm and the girls from the past few years. Can you tell which ones are of Melody when she was little or Emily now? I hope I will be able to share many many more of these photos to come.

What can I say about this week except that it was different and full! We took a mini-road trip after Melody’s field trip with our homeschool group. Since we were south in Gilroy anyhow, we decided to just go west to Monterey afterwards, and swing by Santa Cruz on the way home. It was fun but exhausting few days. The day after our trip we hit the road again for Melody’s charter school orientation in Modesto which is one hour away. And word on the street is that there is a wedding coming up this weekend, so that’s where we will be. We hope to return with a full recap of our fun trip and reviews of the yummy places we visited and ate at. Anyone else travel over the long-weekend?
Thank you all who entered the giveaway! It was fun to see more entries for this giveaway, and also for readers to post where they thought we should put up the wall art. We’ll show you once we have time to put it up. A lot of you wanted us to put it up in the kitchen area.
So, here we go, since I know everyone is waiting in anticipation.
The process: write the names on a piece of paper and have one little girl fold up the pieces of paper to put into the pot, mix it up, have another little girl draw a piece of paper out…
And the winner is…
Congrats Kara for winning the Bless this Home wall art! We will be wall art twins! Let me know where you will be hanging your piece. I will send you an email soon with the giveaway details.
If you didn’t win, we are having a giveaway for The Genesis Code DVD right now. I hope everyone is enjoying the giveaways. If not, we don’t have to do them anymore. I know not everyone likes them. :p
Anyone ever watch CSI: Miami, Wizards of Waverly Place, or 7th Heaven? If you have, you may have seen some of the characters in this movie. I really had no idea what the movie was about but I was pleasantly surprised by the explanation of how faith and science can both be true.
About the Movie:
Kerry Wells (Kelsey Sanders), a college journalist and committed Christian with an effervescent personality, has been assigned to do a story on Blake Truman (Logan Bartholomew) the college’s newest and very popular hockey superstar. As a relationship between them begins to develop Kerry finds that Blake, who hides behind a tough and independent façade, is actually struggling through a difficult personal crisis and that he bears the cross of a secret he has kept hidden for years. Blake rebuffs Kerry’s suggestion that prayer might help ease his burden; he is convinced that modern science completely disproves the Bible, especially the opening verses of Genesis. Kerry — who is herself suddenly confronted with a challenge to her faith on another front — sets out to prove that science and Genesis are not in conflict and her quest leads to a startling revelation. Could it be that what science teaches us about creation and the Story as told in Genesis are both true!
GIVEAWAY time!! One lucky reader will receive a copy of The Genesis Code DVD. Giveaway ends Wednesday, June 6 at 11:59pm.
To enter, leave a comment telling about the last DVD you watched, or your thoughts on creation, or anything related to faith and science…or just tell us about anything related to the topic of this post. Thanks!
For extra entries, you can leave one comment on any post on our blog once a day only until the end of the giveaway, or leave a comment on our review of The Genesis Code.

So I haven’t sat down at the laptop for almost a week…well, not to blog anyway, and boy, have I missed you, our dear readers. We had a field trip to Gilroy Gardens on Friday with our homeschool group and we decided to make it a mini-road trip. We headed to Monterey and Santa Cruz for a few days afterwards. We got home yesterday, but today we hit the road again to Modesto for Melody’s intake meeting with the charter school. We got home at 3pm and then girls were out for their naps within 5 minutes. I have a few moments before one or both girls wake up.
Hopefully, I can finished a short recap of our last 4 days because it will be awhile before I am able to post again. I will have a post with the Bless This Home wall art giveaway winner and also a new giveaway up by tonight. This weekend is my BIL’s wedding, and we are expecting guests tomorrow, so if I don’t see you before then, come back for lots of posts about our time at the aquarium and the boardwalk. And we’ll try to stop by at your blog to see what you’ve been up to for the past week and the week ahead soon. Take care.
What a fun weekend and week! We love the friendships that we’ve made this past year…whether it was connecting with new MOPS friends, getting to know friends of friends, or meeting blogging friends. We also love our long-time friends too!! Hoping to get together more often with those who aren’t as nearby anymore. If we’re friends, old or new, IRL or online, close or far, we’re thankful to have you in our lives. Not much to say except that we have a very busy busy two weeks ahead of us. Have a wonderful weekend! Any big plans this “long” weekend?
A Story by Emily told in her best Chinese accent…I have no idea why my kids have accents when they don’t even know Chinese!
One day there was a castle. And then a little princess, it was Belle, walked into the castle. She saw a cat and walked in the rain. There was someone inside, it was a giant. In the story, the giant walked into a house. And Belle walked into the house too. And then they walked in and saw bananas. They saw a little tiny butterfly in the backyard. And they saw a little snack on the table. They saw a little plant on the desk. The next day there was a stick and the people come. They walked into the street, and saw a banana again. The banana fell, and they saw milk on the table and they just drinked it up. It was Sleeping Beauty’s. They just drinked it up. And then she buyed another one. The end!…
Not really the end because she actually continued her story for a few more minutes…or more….
