We were at the Eat Real Festival the past Saturday. Food trucks from the Bay Area parked in Jack London Square and offered a sample of their menu for less than $5 an item. I think they had to have 3 ingredients that were organic to participate in the festival. We went there for dinner with Norm’s parents and Jen and Aaron. We ate food from 8 of the 80 food trucks/booths that were there. There was also live music and other entertainment as well.
Stop #1 – Homeroom
Order – Trailer Mac: Spring Hill extra-sharp cheddar with sliced Prather Ranch hot dog. Topped with crushed potato chips.
Verdict – Great for kids.
Stop #2 – Chairman Bao
Order – Red Sesame Chicken with Scallion and Bok Choy; and Duck Confit w/ Mango Salad
Verdict – Sauce on Duck Confit was spicy. Not a bad thing but didn’t expect it.
Stop #3 – Sam’s Chowder Mobile
Order – Mini Lobster Roll; and Clam Chowder
Verdict – Yummy!
Stop #4 – Seoul on Wheels
Order – Korean Taco: White corn tortillas, romaine lettuce, sour cream, gochujeng (chili paste), sweet daikon, beef bulgogi
Verdict – Quick in getting order.
Part 2 is on the way….
OMG…I gotta go try those food trucks next time i’m in town visiting you guys.
Yes, definitely. They’re all over the place. Do they have them in TX?
